World Cup 2010

First thing that needs to be said is the right team won.  Without doubt Spain were the best team in the 2010 FIFA world cup.  Even though they started the tournament with a dodgy defeat to Switzerland in my opinion they were the best TEAM by far.  Now I've highlighted the word team because that is exactly what they were.  They fought for every single ball and worked hard for each other.  This should be a standard requirement I know.  But when you consider the number of quality players that play for Spain who if they had been English the press would've been talking as if we have to build the team around the said player, just like they do when they talk about Wayne Rooney.  For me David Villa is a much more potent and dangerous striker than Wayne Rooney at this moment but I've never heard them mention the desire to make him more important then the team.  No there approach is to me more common sense.  They have there style of play and play the best players to suit that style.  No one player is more important than another.  Brilliant players, excellent attitudes it was MY pleasure to see Spain play.  If I'm honest I actually wished I was Spanish lol  Loved it.

Second thing that needs to be said is didn't South Africa do a good job.  All the talk before the World Cup about the stadiums wouldn't be finished and that they weren't organised and who could forget all the drama that they were highlighting about crime etc.  The one thing that did annoy me though was the Vuvuzelas, my god were they annoying.  But it's there culture to blow them horns no stop through a game so what right does anyone have to tell them how they should watch a football game in there own country.  Great job South Africa. 10/10

England.  Now I'm English with Jamaican heritage.  But have always supported England, why? goodness knows they always let me down.  Because lets be honest they were crap with a capital c, poor with a capital p, doo doo with a capital d, you get the picture.  They were by far the worst team to watch at this world cup and the players were disgraceful.  Best offensive player in the team is Wayne Rooney agreed.  But he runs around like a headless chicken.  For me people look at his performances and say doesn't he work hard for his team look he ran back to his defence to help out.   Get out of town!!!  Think about this he's getting in the way.  I'll explain, It'll be like you coming into your office in the morning and little miss busy body is sat at your desk going through your work then saying "oh I'm only helping you out".  What's the first thing your thinking?  Get on with your own job little miss busy body because your getting in the way of me doing mine.  That to me would be how I'd be feeling if I was playing in midfield and this bundle of ginger excitement kept running into my area.  First thing his actions are like I don't believe you can do your job so I'm gonna do it for you as well as my own.  Do you see what I mean.  I really like Wayne Rooney and think he is a talented player but the manager needs to set the agenda and he needs to stick to it.  So for me England were just not a team they were just a bunch of individuals.   For England to do well Fabio Capello will have to sort out all the egos because to me key player seem to have an attitude like they are are bigger than the team.  Now don't get me wrong I don't expect them to win the world cup or even the European Championship.  But I do expect them to play 10 times better than what they did.    England 1/10

Overall, I thought this world cup was good with many twists and surprises.  I've heard the press say that the football was below standard but I just think that they focus too much on England who quite clearly were below standard.   I was a little disappointed with the performances of the African nations. OK Ghana were quite clearly robbed when Suarez of Uruguay cheated with his own version of the hand of god.  But what happened to the others Ivory Coast, Cameron, Nigeria and South Africa.  All big football nations but very much below standard.  I heard that the Nigerian government was so annoyed by there performance that they banned the players from International football for a year or something.  Now that is a little over the top don't you think?  After all isn't it only a game?  They should be more like us and just accept we were crap and make  up jokes about the whole thing.  Like "I can't believe we only managed a draw against a rubbish team we should easily have beaten. . . . I'm ashamed to call myself Algerian"

Stand out players for me were.  David Villa (Spain), Xavi (Spain), Forlan (Uraguay), Ozil (Germany), Thomas Muller (Germany), Suarez (Uraguay), Wesley Sneijder (Netherlands), Robben (Netherlands), Maicon (Brazil), Robinio (Brazil), Gyan (Ghana), Messi (Argentina)  and Higuain (Argentina)

Sad it's all over can't wait for the next one Brazil 2014.  Bring on the Premier League. lol
